WAEC publishes its syllabus every year. The 2026 syllabus should be your first download. Print it, mark completed topics in green and pending topics in red. This single step separates students who pass from those who fail.

English Language: The Subject Everyone Underestimates

English Language is compulsory and often the difference between a credit and a pass. Focus on comprehension passages, summary writing, and essay structure. Practice writing timed essays of 450 words in under 30 minutes. Read the sample model answers in WAEC past questions carefully, because examiners reward structure.

Mathematics: Build From Fundamentals

Do not attempt to cram Mathematics. Build from the basics: algebra, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, and trigonometry. These topics appear in every WAEC paper. Use step-by-step worked solutions, not just answer keys.

Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology

For science subjects, past questions from 2010 onwards are gold. WAEC recycles question types frequently. In Biology, emphasise ecology, genetics, and cell biology. In Chemistry, organic chemistry and electrolysis are high-yield. In Physics, master calculations on mechanics and electricity.

Creating Your Revision Timetable

With WAEC covering 9 or more subjects, timetabling is critical. Allocate more time to subjects you are weakest in. Study two subjects per day: one in the morning when your mind is fresh, one in the evening. Take your toughest subjects in the morning slot.
